Monday Market Report August 31, 2026 – SEPTEMBER 6, 2026

BACK TO SCHOOL WEEK = SLIGHT DIP FOR PENTICTON HOME SALES AS WE ROLL INTO SEPTEMBER!

The Week in Numbers: 12 homes sold in Penticton this week, that’s up 5 sales from last week, but down 4 sales from this time last year, while 32 new listings hit the market, keeping inventory steady with no big swings either way, so buyers still have plenty to choose from. Sellers, this is your moment: price it right, show it well, and it moves – the market’s sharpening up, not slowing down.

Highlight of the Week: A Single-Family in the Columbia Duncan area of Penticton sold for more than $800,000. Across all 12 transactions, buyers paid an average of 95% of asking, with none of the properties selling at or above the list price.

Inventory Watch: Penticton currently holds 434 active listings across all categories, down from 507 a year ago. That’s a 14% year-over-year decline in inventory, and it isn’t a one-week wobble; it’s a pattern that’s been quietly building for the past five months. Worth keeping a close eye on as momentum keeps gathering.

New to Market: 94 new properties have come onto Penticton’s housing market over the past 30 days, a healthy (but smaller) wave of fresh inventory spanning a real range of price points and property types. For Buyers: The conditions favoring you are still intact. Total inventory hasn’t really moved since June; the selection you had then is roughly the selection you have now. Six months of that is worth noticing, because it’s easy to assume a market like this can’t last. It won’t last forever. Sales have been picking up, and steady inventory only stays steady until buyers start moving faster than sellers list. When that shifts, it tends to shift fast. What you’ve had isn’t just a fair price. It’s time to think, room to compare, and leverage instead of competition. You still have all three. How much longer is the real question, and it’s one worth watching closely.
